This month I share my purpose for Planet Megan: I desire to bring the sense of magic into the world that comes from inspiration, dreams, & creativity. Magic–(you know, like the ‘magical’ world Walt Disney wanted to share. Travis said my slogan should be: “Make Life Magical Again.”
Well, I think that the first step toward making any magical dream come true begins with believing you belong; that you are worthy of acceptance & love. That belief is what empowers our wills to turn our dreams into reality–that’s what this newsletter is about!
Our neighborhood block party was a success! We missed everyone who couldn’t make it. Next year we can chose a different weekend besides labor day, and I hope to see you for the Cinco de Mayo BBQ-Saturday May 2nd 2020!
Getting to know your neighbors is a great way to keep your
neighborhood safe and build your community.
When National Geographic conducted the ‘Blue Zone Study’ to find the people that lived the longest & healthiest on Earth, one of the factors that all zones shared, was a SENSE OF COMMUNITY. The need for emotional connectivity is wired into our human brains–we need it to survive and to thrive joyously!
You know, in tribal communities…your neighbor is basically your intermediate family! But in America, yet we are advanced, we’re more isolated, lonely, depressed, stressed, & sick. I think that the more technology makes us less reliant on ourselves & others, the less connected we feel. If we are do something about the shootings & violence we see today, we might consider the root cause may be the breakdown of community, connection & belonging…
IT DOES TAKE A VILLAGE.
One thing you might consider is planning your own BBQ block party (or pool party!) next year and build community. If everyone did this, our society would learn to slow down, appreciate life, appreciate each other, and live longer for it!
Megan’s Magical Chile
Okay . . . I was tempted to keep this recipe secret because I fantasized about one day winning a chili contest at the local fair, but that might not happen, so I think it’s best if I can share this easy & delicious chili I JUST created. What makes it so good: the peperoncinis!!
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4-1/2 stick butter
- 1 Tbsp GF soy sauce
- BBQ seasoning salt
- 2 cans diced tomatoes
- 1 can EACH of pinto/kidney/black beans
- 6-7 chopped peperoncinis
- Tbsp chile powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder, or 8 cloves fresh garlic
DIRECTIONS:
Brown meat in pot w/ butter. Season with GF soy sauce & BBQ seasoning salt.
Once cooked, add all canned beans, tomatoes, peperoncinis, & all seasonings.
Add more seasoning salt & peperoncini juice to taste!
Cook 30min.
When I refer to dreams, I’m talking about big & small. Dreams are desires you have in your heart to do something purposeful in life. That purpose is exactly what you would create & give to others.
Taking the first step towards your dream requires the one foundational belief that takes you all the way there.
That is: you’re worthy of acceptance and love AS YOU ARE NOW. You’re also worthy of your dreams & gifts and you already have everything you need to figure anything out.
Singer/songwriter, NF, has become a millionaire by now, but it’s quite evident in his music of his self-hatred. His attempts at success are fear-based because if he changes like he might desire to, he fears losing his fans’ acceptance & approval. Without inner self-worth, we will be constantly trying to fulfill external expectations for success & belonging that don’t bring us true inner purpose & hope. Self-worth frees your spirit from that entrapment…self-worth means you need and have your own approval.

If you’re low on self-worth, remember that you’re just as special as anyone else on this small spinning planet! What God made was good & he made YOU with imagination & placed dreams in your heart. If you believe that God made you, you should believe that you were personally given the gift of life to enjoy creation & opportunity—and to rule it with authority, determination, & love–not as a victim.
